COURSE DETAILS

Physician assistant (PA) is a licensed medical professional who holds an advanced degree and is able to provide direct patient care. They work with patients of all ages in virtually all specialty and primary care areas, diagnosing and treating common illnesses and working with minor procedures. With an increasing shortage of health care providers, PAs are a critical part of today’s team-based approach to health care.

OBJECTIVES

Assisting the physician in assessing patients in the acute and long term primary care setting, developing and implementing patient management plans, recording patient progress, assisting in the provision of continuing care and helping patients cope with illness and injury with education and counseling.

CARRER OPPORTUNITY

A physician assistant helps physicians in taking care of patients. These professionals may work in areas such as cardiology and cardiac surgery, general medicine and surgery, orthopaedics, oncology, trauma care, obstetrics and gynecology and emergency medicine. In surgery, physician assistants perform the role of first and second assistant, and in intensive care units, they work with intensivists. They usually work at hospitals, care homes, private clinics and specialized medical institutions.
